You can find me anchoring one meeting per month for BWIGH. Meetings are free and open to family and caregivers of all ages who wish to learn about the use of slings and carriers through discussions, one-on-one help, and demonstrations. Members (dues are $30 per year per family) may borrow baby carriers from the library the chapter maintains. BWIGH holds several meetings a month across Houston.

First Friday evenings (6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.) at 1533 1/2 Heights Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77008 (map), thanks to Texas Lactation Consultants and the Bay Area Birth Center. Free street parking and limited parking in the front lot.

Educator trainings for BWIGH and others on a case-by-case basis, held the last day of the month at various times.

I welcome information exchanges with those in the birth and health care fields and seek to identify and understand areas of both concordance and differences of opinion in various related fields.

I welcome your email about the possibility of our working together.

On hold: Babywearing Institute (BI) classes

logo of Babywearing Institute

BI classes are an intensive way for individuals to solidify knowledge and skills required to teach caregivers and families the optimal use of baby carriers. No previous babywearing experience is required, but those who possess it will certainly be able to gain a greater understanding of the topic. Those working in birth, health care, and child care are particularly welcome, but parents and other direct caregivers are always welcome.

Current State of Texas legislation requires that certification programs be licensed. I will therefore no longer offer certification courses, although I plan to continue offering professional training. Previously, students who completed a class were considered BI Scholars, and those who completed the take-home written exams, consultations and self-evaluations, and carrier reviews successfully were considered Certified Babywearing Educators.

No classes are scheduled

If you are interested in planning a class, please reach out to me.

Interested? I have written much more about BI certification classes. Please also request to join this Facebook group to join conversations about upcoming classes.
